Go Team China! (singapore Branch)
I was looking around my msn list for someone to talk to. yea this few days i've been talking to people whom i would otherwise have never talked to had it not been for the holidays...
when i ntoiced a very interesting Msn Nickname.
I admit that had me stunned for a moment. What, Team China? Wait, the only team china i could think was the DOHA Asian Games. so i would guess that, this is it.
then i saw the 2nd part of the nick
oh...ok i think it makes sense haha. I assume this was directed at the the huge influx of foreign talent in the Badminton and Table Tennis Teams.
For the record, if you think i'm making a mountain out of a molehill the tabletennis has ONLY 1 SINGAPOREAN.
YEA U HEARD ME. 1 SINGAPOREAN. out of the entire of team of close to 6. only 1 is a singaporean. Team China (singapore branch indeed)
to be honest i don't have anything against foreigners. I admit i do enjoy my fair share of Korean Drams and Japanese Animes.
but this is goin overboard isnt it? 1 Singaporean? hello.?
and its not being helped by schools. Anyone who has played Table Tennis recently in the competitions can tell you the sheer number of China players in that schools bring in to play for them, just for winning.
You take in those people deemed as surplus by these countries, bring them in and treat them as gold. wad de. something sounds screwed up here don't it
Ok let's say they win the medal. do you really feel that proud? This is a country thing. NOT SOME KIND OF A SOCCER CLUB DAMMIT. There's a difference when a player plays for his or her country and when a foreigner plays for you. Anyone who watched Li Jia Wei play can tell you that she clearly looked like she didn't have the heart to play.
Its the same in the Singapore Soccer team i guess. At least the Table Tennis team delievers something i guess. Soccer leh? bring in so many of them in the end they cause so much trouble. i'm referring to the 2 nigerians. In the end, the better players in the team end up to be singaporeans. Indra, Noh Alam Shah, and the singapore Captain whose name i have forgotten haha.
I agree foreign talent is useful. But like wad the guy said in that FOreign Talent SBQ that we did, they are not a long-term answer. We still must take care of our own Singaporean talent.
There's a difference when one plays for one's country and when one is playing for money. The commitment and national pride makes the difference i guess.
maybe its time we stopped looking at outsiders and started looking at our own talent.
EDIT: i'm sorry, i guess this isn;t that much of a strong arguement. partly because this was supposed to be written a few days back when i was really fired up about it. now kinda tamed so i'm kinda unsure of my arguement points haha.
