more thought invoking stuff.
this is going to be a vvveerrryyy... long post. the kind that amos says looks like an essay lol.
Whilst studying for Chemistry on Sunday.. I happened to catch The Matrix Reloaded, again, just before the unfortunate series of events that started at 11:00.
And as i watched and relished my favourite parts of the show. I began to listen and pay attention to the various quotes that came out from the Show.
"you're not here to make the choice. you've already made it. you're here to understand it.
we cannot see beyond the choices we don't understand."
if you don't understand your choice. you cannot make a decision that is compounded by it. its as simple as that. even if you are provident, its still going to be difficult.
"it is not because we are free, we are here because, we are not free."
This doesn't just apply to the Matrix. It applies to us too. Notice that everyone of us is kinda caught in a cycle. grow up, earn money, get married, give birth, ensure ur child continues the same pattern?
"There is no escaping reason. No denying purpose because, as we both know, without purpose, we would not exist."
I believe that we are all put here. for a purpose. what that purpose is, we need to find out. because
"It is purpose that created us. Purpose that connects us. Purpose that pulls us-- That guides us-- Purpose that defines us-- Purpose that binds us."
so without purpose, we would be something like lost sheep. caught in this cycle that cannoe be reversed. some people look to God for their purpose. some prefer to create their own. others just walk along, enjoying the ride. like what i'm in danger of falling into.
"there is only one constant, one universal. It is the only real truth: Causality. Action, Reaction. Cause and Effect."
This one set me thinking. Whatever happened to the cliche where the only constant was change? Then i started to realise that, change is a cause, the effect causes you to change. so its technically part f this rule. kinda like a subset.
Cause and effect. At this point of time. I have to apologise to Lake, Wai Wan, amos for my past actions. you know wad i mean. however my past actions may have shown me to be like, i assure u that the reaction is change. I've changed i guess. more or less bah. haha ^_^
"Choice is an illusion, created by those with power, and those without"
Again this one seemed like a difficult one. what does it mean by an illusion? does it mean that the choice is only there for show? that there is actually no choice...at all? My conclusion is that, choices may be given, but it is actually as artifical as the Matrix itself. choice is given as an attempt to pacify one when the one with power knows that in actual fact it all comes back to square one.
"This is the nature of the Universe. We struggle against it. We fight to deny it but it is of course a pretense. A Lie.Beneath our poised appearances, the truth is that we are completely, out, of control."
ahh.. this is like. exactly wad i've felt all the while. the facade's that we put up to hide it....haix.
"Causality. there is no escape to it. We are forever slaves to it. Our only hope, our only peace is to uderstand it, to understand why. Why is what separates them from you, you from me"
I agree with this one. if you cannot escape it, prehaps you should understand why. understanding is the 1st step to accepting it. which is why i believe that one can never grasp a concept fully without understanding it. Especially in physics. >_><_<
"This is a war. We are all soldiers. Death can come for us at any time, in any place.
Now consider the alternative, What if i'm right What if the prophecy is true. What if tomorrow this war could be over? Isn't that worth fighting for...Isn't that worth dieing for??"
like weeks before the prelims. i really began to use the analogy to err...motivate myself.
i was like, i'm a student, i have to study anyway. now consider the alternative to slacking. what if studying all this stuff could get me to somwehere i wanna go..like SAJC. Isn't that a future worth..fighting for? isn't that a future worth studying for..
I'm sure it can apply to alot of people out there. now if only there was a morpheus among us to do such inspirational speeches. haix.
"already I can see the chain reaction, the chemical precursors that signal the onset of and emotion specifically designed to overwhelm reason and logic, an emotion blinding u from the simple and obvious truth. she is going to die and there is nothign you can do about it."
no prizes for guessin what emotion this is. vis a vis Love. Love blinds, or so i've heard. who knows? lol. no one but the clown in it bah.
"Hope, it is the quintessential human element, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength and greatest weakness."
my favourite phrase these days. hope can inspire u to do ur best. but put too much into hope, you may just lose ur will to do it.
"I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream has gone from me"
Morpheus says this after his lifelong dream of ending the war has been a farce. worthless.
I'm in the danger of putting all my eggs in a basket, putting too much hopes in 1 single dream. let's just hope it doessn't backfire >.<
This may seem quite worthless and pointless considering there's a History exam tomorrow, bt i'm practicising my Source based skills =p.
been reading through history too. and after looking at various various ways of runing a country.
I'm beginning to see that from a leader's point of view, A Dictatorial rule is actually one of the best. Like Nazi Germany. While i do not condone what he did to the JEws and most of the world, one cannot help but admire how he took germany up regardless of circumstances that may have helped him.
Allowing people to think sometimes is the worst thing a leader can afford. allow people to think, and all sorts of problems in even the simplest equations can occur. kind of like how The One functions. people will see the smallest nook and cranny and make a mountain out of a molehill.
like freedom of speech. puh-lease i have yet to see a decent reason for having it other than "the west look down on us". or "its a human right". dotz.
all it does is create more problems for the government when their time can actually be used for something more productive.
haix. long post sia. i'm kinda tired out by it le.
i've heard good news from Jia Wei that my SS answers kinda hit L5. i really hope so. I gave like super duper radical answers closing towards bullshit lol.
got many things off my chest. feel so..so...vindicated ahh...
talk about both my SS and Hist answers tml probably. when i've done both. then its chemistry. shit. lol
